Leavings is destined to become your new wardrobe staple. It is mine!
It is another perfect in between the seasons cardigan.
This is a classic tailored Ziggurat cropped cardigan (or jacket) with a relaxed and easy fit and signature built-in buttonbands. Finish off with a small flourish: a sweet garland on hem and cuffs.
The woolly or, hairy even, yarn is knitted on a smaller needle than I would normally use for DK – I wanted a firmer fabric.
You may recognise the vine from the Foliole pullover – also in the book).
Download the free colourplay sheets to develop your unique vine palette.
Leavings was designed in memory of and homage to a dear friend who, incidentally, would have knitted this cardigan in grey. Maybe even grey on grey. I feel properly dressed in this cardigan. And warm. And befriended.
Yarn: Hjelholts Pelsuld 5.5/2 (sport–DK)

With the Ziggurat method you fashion a tailored and flattering silhouette – a yoke that sits and fits just right across your shoulders and with no bagging at the armholes.
- tailored & top down
- entirely seamless
- sleeve caps are knitted along with the yoke for a 'set-in' sleeve
- neck-shaping (also in back)
- built-in everything (pockets, buttonbands, seamlessly lined hems)
- absolutely minimal sewing in of ends
The Ziggurat Steps are instantly recognisable from one pattern to another.
