Snårvinda

Snårvinda

I think you may enjoy this funky mashup of a yoke sweater & classic top-down Ziggurat. It could be the best of both worlds: the beauty of a round yoke motif with the sleeker silhouette of classically tailored Ziggurat.
The trick: you knit in two directions from a provisional cast on. (Why? Because I like a shapely armscye without unwanted bunching.)
Knit a hip-friendly split rib to complete the sweater – or choose one of the other hems from the hem tutorials in the book.

Snårvinda is not your typical Ziggurat pullover.
I wanted to knit a sweater with a colourful classical round yoke but with a rather more tailored shape.

The solution is a fun mashup of circular yoke and classic Ziggurat increases – a top-up-down construction

Start with a provisional cast on below the colourwork to upwards. Bind off at the neck. Now knit the provisional stitches top-down – add with slight body shaping and finish with a split ribbed hem.

The mid-length sleeve picks up a simple motif from the yoke.

  • Ziggurat mashup: everything is knitted in one go, top-up-down
  • no seaming
  • very few ends to weave in
  • bold and simple stylized garland motif
  • optional bust dart
  • hip-friendly split hem

As usual, there's the Helpful Table to keep track of increases.
