Girlang Light is a light and airy little sweater with a sweet and simple garland trailing around shoulders and cuffs. The gently curving neckline is neither too high nor low, too wide nor narrow – but just so. Simple rib edgings complete the clean look. An optional gather at centre back lends extra movement. Tvinni, a light fingering yarn from Isager, is an ideal choice for this airy little piece. Or try a cotton or linen blend!
Girlang Light has a DK-weight sister: Girlang. The Girlang sisters are Ziggurats with a small twist: you knit the collar first and then cast on and knit each shoulder in turn, extending from the collar.
The trailing garland imitates yoke-style colourwork but with the usual and flattering Ziggurat tailoring.
Beginner-friendly colourwork: this is an opportunity to try out stranded colourwork if it is something you have been contemplating but not yet jumped into.
The simple style is finished with a fittingly simple rib at cuff and hem.

With the Ziggurat method you fashion a tailored and flattering silhouette – a yoke that sits and fits just right across your shoulders and with no bagging at the armholes.
- tailored & top down
- entirely seamless
- sleeve caps are knitted along with the yoke for a 'set-in' sleeve
- neck-shaping (also in back)
- built-in everything (pockets, buttonbands, seamlessly lined hems)
- absolutely minimal sewing in of ends
The Ziggurat Steps are instantly recognisable from one pattern to another.
