Verdite
Verdite is one of 16 designs in Åsa Tricosa Ziggurats: 16 elegantly seamless knits
(available from Shephardess & other stockists)
Verdite is an elegant tunic with a small gather at centre back for added ease and freedom of movement, finished by a split hem, lined with a splash of colour. An undulating cable adorns both the ballerina neckline and the cuffs at the end of the bracelet-length sleeves. The hem is, but need not be, double knitted.
This yarn, Funnies Curly Silk by Dibadu, seems to glow from within. It is the same luxuriant base that was (and still is!) one of my first favourite indie dyer yarns, Faery Wings, from back when I fell out of philosophy and back into obsessive knitting. The original Simple Ziggurat was indeed designed for and knitted with this yarn base. Here, I have chosen to knit it into a slightly tighter fabric that drapes gorgeously and will keep its shape well.
