This is the third time I have designed with Ginger’s Masham Mayhem DK and the third time it happily and happenstance coincides with the Edinburgh Yarn Festival – happenstance, for it has never been planned nor properly decided, wherefore we never manage to announce it in any official publications or lists produced for the fantastic and always much looked-forward-to festival.
Happily, for I like the haphazardness and freedom of non-obligation.
(My other Masham Mayhem patterns: Mayhem Shawl and Mayhem Cardigan)

Freedom and happenstance are also possible knitwise for Troppo Mayhem. You can throw in another colour or two or more in the garter stripe section, knit more of fewer stripes, extend the plain garter stitch section before the cable motif finale.

To make sure I didn’t run out of yarn, I weighed my yarn intermittently to find out how much would be needed for the final section.

Colour: Rosebud

Some may call it yarn chicken, I prefer to call it knitting nous…

Note: You’ll spot two wider teal stripes in some photos – that’s a mistake that I was too lazy to remedy when I looked at my knitting in daylight. I prefer uniform 2-row garter stripes so that is what the pattern dictates and also how I knitted my second Troppo Mayhem. You can of course stripe in any which way you please.)
