Cajsa – a casual, summery Ziggurat cardigan
Meet Cajsa – a casual, slightly cropped cardigan in a summery mix of linen and silk. Like all Ziggurats, Cajsa is knitted in one piece and top down with contiguous sleeve caps, built-in button bands and pockets. The slightly dropped shoulder 3/4 length sleeves are picked up and knitted last and and with a sweet notch. As usual, there is not a seam in sight.
The summery yarn with the gorgeous drape is Seda de Campo, a DK-weight blend of linen and silk, hand dyed by Barbara at dibadu. I splashed for the colour Pazifik, not my usual choice. It leans enough toward teal to not really count as blue even if the photos don’t quite manage to convey that.
The pocket… this is my latest pocket. It features on some cardigans that will appear in the Ziggurat Book (no set date for publication yet). On Cajsa the edging is narrower and the pockets a bit smaller.
Their endearing feature: they don’t add bulk because there is no separate pouch. Rather, the pocket is double knitted into the fabric. So instead of three layers you have just two. Yes, the pockets on Bambasala and Bento Boksy are also double knitted. On Bento Boksy I added a piped edging. This new incarnation has yet anotther decorative and practical edging. It makes for rather involved knitting – but the pockets are optional. You can knit this simpler pocket instead, or skip the pockets altogether. Oh, and in the pattern the pockets are placed 5 cm / 2″ lower than in the photos – I think that’s more flattering.
Cajsa is the perfect project for the Åsa Tricosa Summer KAL (on Ravelry). You are welcome to join
