Black Basalt
Black Basalt is one of 16 designs in Åsa Tricosa Ziggurats: 16 elegantly seamless knits
(available from Shephardess & other stockists)
Black Basalt is an everyday wardrobe staple, your ‘always-reach-for’ basic cardigan. With a classic round neck and a relaxed fit, it is neither bulky nor boxy. It goes with everything.
An optional contrasting triangle insert/detail on the cuff adds interest without making a big statement.
The double-knitted pockets require concentration and commitment. If you follow the step-by-step tutorial you should be fine. Alternatively, you could opt for a simple pocket, or none at all. The teal sample features a simple afterthought pocket with a contrasting cord edging, which is a good alternative to the double-knitted ones.

How do I buy one pattern like the black basalt
You can find Black Basalt (and all my patterns) on Ravelry.
I’m struggling with binding on the button band with provisional cast on. Mine looks like a knotted mess and nothing like the photo demonstration. Do you have a video of how to do this for step 4 on the front left shoulder?
I am part of your knitt stars masters class I completed the knit along however the button band was not part of the demo and we did a crochet cast on. Thank you for your support.
Hello Sarah!
Thank you for participating in my Knit Stars master class!
Maybe you’ll find this photo tutorial for the Winding Provisional Cast On helpful.
And there is also a video on asatricosa on Instagram.
(You may have already found an answer on Ravelry – I believe I saw a reply to a post by you there? If not, it is a great place to ask questions.)
Knit with abandon!
Åsa
p.s. Here is my reply to someone else’s question about the buttonhole
