Aranaranja
Aranaranja is the cover design for Åsa Tricosa Ziggurats: 16 elegantly seamless knits
(available from Shephardess & other stockists)
Aranaranja is a cosy, stylish, zingy turtle neck that can be sleekly fitted or knitted a little wider for more comfort. The pattern gives instructions for both variants .
This turtleneck brings you the somewhat futuristic style of Fubarite at an aran gauge.
Alpaka Walk, a vibrant felted alpaca/merino blend from Dibadu, creates an extravagantly plush stand-up turtleneck. The cording below the waist is quietly understated, yet holds its own against the bold, textured cuffs and provides vertical detailing to contrast with the horizontal lines of the cuffs and collar. The citrussy orange colour will brighten any day. And, just for fun, there is a contrasting hidden lining.
The cording allows you to sneak in extra increases for a more relaxed fit, and instructions on how to achieve this are supplied.

I have bought your Ziggurat book – love the designs! I had some spare Aran so I’ve started with Aranaranja. I’m a newbie to the top down knitting technique but managed fine so far until waist decreases. Should be plain sailing but ……I’m not great at keeping in my markers and so get confused where they are meant to be, which is a bit of a problem with your method.
In Box C, decrease Round 3 : where are the markers?
“Decrease Rnd 3: Sm, (k2, k2tog, knit to 2 sts before m, ssk) twice. 4 sts decreased”
If you decrease 4 stitches, then I’m assuming you have 2 sets of 2 markers, probably under the arm but I’ve only got one marker just before the false cord TwS1. Sorry to be such an idiot. What am I missing???
This is probably not the right place to ask. But any help appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Julia
Hello there! It seems you are doing great – apart from the markers… 😉
The best place to find swift, accurate, and friendly help with queries is in my Ravelry group. There is usually a dedicated thread for each pattern. Aranaranja is here.
